Paper Crafting and Tuesday to do #58

So I missed last Tuesday.....I did some of the goals from the previous list..

I  have been paper crafting...here is a photo of stackable pockets

This idea is from a video by Pam at The Paper Outpost.
I used old book pages.....some cutting, gluing, stamping.  The heart is a fabric heart I had cut from Accuquilt and put distress oxide ink around the edge.

Here is a photo of 2 pages from my creative journal.  I had shown the start of it in a previous post.

I have been organizing my fabrics and craftiing supplies and moving things and clearing off surfaces!  I have so many projects out and it gets distracting and also is  a mess!  I am keeping a computer list of projects I pack away and where they are because I know I will never find them if I don't write it down.  (I kept telling myself the reason I have so many projects all over is so I won't forget them...ha ha...it was not a good plan!)

Tuesday To Do week of May 4 through May 10::

  1. finish a mini quilt I started this week
  2. sewing with paper crafting
  3. kawandi runner
I am linking to Chris Knits

check for the projects for this week and see what everyone is doing!!

To-Do Tuesday for week of July 28 through August 3:
  1. I am in a FB quilt challenge to enter a quilt every day so I will finish those entries. yes

  3. Work on my ongoing quilt projects every day. yes
I worked on a quilting project every day and worked on 5 different quilt projects this week.  I also started some contemporary log cabin blocks after watching a Bluprint class by Judith Trager!

I made a decision to sash my scrappy rectangle blocks with black.  (My quilt group in a Zoom meeting thought I needed sashing.)  I took the photo to see if the placement is okay.....I have moved blocks around so many times!  The photo shows the start of the black sashing.

I also worked in my creative journal.  Instead of a page for each day I did all of July on two pages!

  2. Finish yellow brick road quilt

To-Do Tuesday #16

This is my 16th week of linking with Home Sewn By Us for To-Do Tuesday.

Here is my list from last week and my progress
To-Do Tuesday for Week of April 14 through April 20:
  1. Make a decision of what to do with these two mini quilts.  And possibly make two more from the series in the class (4 different mini quilts in the series) yes
  2. Work on at least one sewing/quilting project every day.yes
  3. Work in my creative journal and online class projects every day.yes
1 I decided to make the larger of the mini quilts from the online class into a wallhanging and I have the binding and backing picked out.  The smaller one will be a mug rug and I will not be making the other two mini quilts in the series at this time.

2 I worked on making masks and here is a photo with me wearing one of them.  We wear them on our walks in the neighborhood.
I also made several more Stitch Meditations

For my zen stitching I love going to my scraps of fabric and in less than a minute I find scraps that want to be together.  Then my needle leads the way in stitching........and the running stitch seems to win out.  But I like it!

3 Here are two pages that I finished....I am behind in this creative journal!  But I have worked on it and the online class journal every day and I am making some progress.

To-Do Tuesday for the Week of April 21 through April 27:
  1. Work on the mini quilt from the online class quilting and binding.
  2. FMQ the yellow brick road quilt and practice FMQ on other projects...for at least 4 days this week.
  3. Work on at least one of my other quilt projects and maybe start another quilt from my list to make.

Happy Halloween and some projects

This time of year I enjoy pumpkin spice coffee and creamer and anything pumpkin spice!  So when we were in Julian last month and I spotted this cup...it had to come home with me.  The selfie photos were at Lake Cuyamaca and in Julian on the bench on main street.  It was our 58th anniversary and we had a lovely day in the country.
This was a Halloween finish I made last month and gifted to a friend.

The photo shows a page from my creative journal.  Documenting the day in a creative way is so awesome......and I always enjoy it!  It is a great way to remember the day!
This last photo is a page from one of my practice notebooks of drawing abstract flowers in an online class with Joanne Sharpe.

Not many finishes but I am working on the binding on two quilts and I will blog about them when finished!

Background pages.....creative journaling

Here are the photos of my first time trying out Lindy's magical powders.  They are very fine powders...put them on the page and then spray with water.  On some papers the color goes through to the other side....like the Midori on the right.  It will be okay to journal over.  These were done several weeks ago.
Today I put the powders on a piece of tile and used my waterbrush to put the the color on the page.
 I didn't like this look............
so I sprayed water with the mini mister for more of a watercolor look....
Then I used the leftovers on the tile to make a more subdued background page on the right.  I will probably use a white pen to journal over the page on the left.  I really like these colors and will be trying more ways of using them.
This last photo was from last month..........practicing and playing!  Using a stencil brush and acrylic paint to attempt to paint flowers.   On the left is a watercolor background and on the right is black gesso background.

I enjoy painting almost as much as quilting and will be searching for more ways to combine the two!  I am taking creative journaling classes and I enjoy learning new things and trying out new products.

I am sharing this to encourage you to try new things and anyone can do this.  I would always welcome new ideas and fun things to learn about painting and quilting together.....so let me know.

Another charm box mini quilt

I really like making this charm box quilt pattern and the first one I made was smaller.  I posted about it last year.  This one is 18" square.  I am hanging it in the kitchen where I had the smaller one.  I have been working on it for awhile and finally finished it today!!  It is a free pattern from Fat Quarter Shop and is Lori Holt fabric.
It is so good to have a finish it up Friday to push me along!!
Joanne Sharpe has a new class online Draw Your Awesome Letters.  SUCH FUN!!
I got a new palette tray and it is easy to swipe the little distress ink pads and then using a wet brush and water do backgrounds for my creative journals.  I got the idea to get this from Kathy at The Daily Marker.  It is fun to add all kinds of things to my creative journals!
We spent a great day walking around at the Safari Park.  It is nice for my hubs to be able to walk easily without pain in his knee now!  Before his knee replacement in April the pain was too much to walk for any distance.
Here is another scrappy rectangle block.
And in September we celebrated our 56th wedding anniversary.  We went to the Lake Cuyamaca Restaurant and walked by the water.  We spent time in Julian and Pine Hills...........some of our favorite places to visit.

Linking to finish it up Friday crazy mom quilts   and Linky Tuesday.

Scrappy trips, zendoodle, recycled shirts and Traffic Jam quilt

This post is about the projects I have been working on this past week............
I started quilting the scrappy trips with #4 stitch on my Bernina...
This is the largest quilt I have ever quilted....
Roll the extra fabric....adjust the tiny area to sew....sew....readjust....over and over...
I am loving this quilt even more....and am getting used to the routine of machine quilting it...
Page from my creative journal where I used some distress inks for the background...
I just got this new book and am really enjoying it so far.....
Our Tuesday bee group is gathering recycled shirts and making quilts...
These are some of my blocks I have done so far....
Pat Sloan's Traffic Jam pattern....
I am trying out the sashing in this photo....
I had the strips on the table using it for my Brambleberry Friends quilt and thought I would check it for a possibility for this quilt...
The sewing of the recycled shirts blocks and Traffic Jam were sewn previous weeks...
but this week I am cutting out more strips and blocks for them between the quilting scrappy trips.....
Never a dull moment.....I always have fun projects to do!!!
