I have watched YouTube and The Quilt Show tutorials and did it different this time. I folded over the backing seam and did not stitch it down as i have in the past. I am also going to wait to add the batting AFTER the first row of pieces of fabric are added. These are two changes from the earlier small Kawandi quilts. </p><p>AND the next photo shows a way of adding the pieces to tuck the seam under so the edge looks neater. I like to take photos to share tips and also for a reminder to me in the future!! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX38RL1q-bnM-KtMRyoool7OlJ5596PMWuY20JF1AEsavolVYPwuxQ4a-IzUNcgJ07UIRH2dnjvX8VcpVbp23oAUBiHxoJCk9yhWeP02nu4zUuHOpw_YJ4RwlAGzjeVITLxxWakGharFTKwKkT5_20suub48x710tJb9CjIWMrmpZTUwISa9Uo2xLR/s4030/IMG_E8205.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3022" data-original-width="4030" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX38RL1q-bnM-KtMRyoool7OlJ5596PMWuY20JF1AEsavolVYPwuxQ4a-IzUNcgJ07UIRH2dnjvX8VcpVbp23oAUBiHxoJCk9yhWeP02nu4zUuHOpw_YJ4RwlAGzjeVITLxxWakGharFTKwKkT5_20suub48x710tJb9CjIWMrmpZTUwISa9Uo2xLR/s320/IMG_E8205.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>I cut up some pieces of the following fat quarter to put in this quilt.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0h75Z7dq9qAenuzMtq_i_51UKgibLYQnmF509XdEeqhd2_x35yNOxQnrxPGmeMGrUUfFSQ_6R2-sgIIEsbkak_h9haW3qifjH-RM_NucCHHpqIbUZPpJ05jtwciR96YVgpiuLuQ511yUkH15Y6o0xjmXLJRHCv2GRpryhULTvXbci8nUbgAgWD-1c/s4030/IMG_E8202.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3022" data-original-width="4030" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0h75Z7dq9qAenuzMtq_i_51UKgibLYQnmF509XdEeqhd2_x35yNOxQnrxPGmeMGrUUfFSQ_6R2-sgIIEsbkak_h9haW3qifjH-RM_NucCHHpqIbUZPpJ05jtwciR96YVgpiuLuQ511yUkH15Y6o0xjmXLJRHCv2GRpryhULTvXbci8nUbgAgWD-1c/s320/IMG_E8202.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p>I had a birthday February 16the........83! Color wash quilt scraps challenge. These are so fun to make with scraps and each block is trimmed to 3½". She has several videos about these blocks.</p><p>Last Sunday late afternoon we drove down to the La Jolla to watch the sunset at the ocean. I had checked the time of the full moon rise and it was close to the same time as the sunset time. So we thought it would be an awesome thing to watch. AND it was. We watched as the sun disappeared into the ocean and then on our way back home we saw the full moon low on the horizon as it had just come up. The sky was clear so we were able to view both of these....very special time for us.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6w9iUWuNik4Y-os93SKk35TG-i5L1s5Lq-EjBAtY0Z021iDvnQ_0wRDeTtBQ0LkHjoR7QTjpYWRbZJBZan11wlMPpLA5lTG4ZIXmPRSf2mEsBep_NnQ7uWMBNRoq5t4fpkYNaGjPw3gDPDIMPpmuZbBxtAuMIRAtt5h94FbVZDm_9ZdKq6mfToEIx/s4032/IMG_8103.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; This is where I am today...almost ready to add the center..</p><p>Every morning I check YouTube for interesting videos. I have a fire stick on a small TV at my desk. This morning there was a video about momigami. I have never heard of it before. For those who don't know it is a Japanese papermaking method described as kneaded paper. It makes the paper soft like fabric. In the video she did some slow stitching on it.</p><p> I wanted to try it. I did some experimenting.</p><p>The first photo is watercolor paper that I had painted. I used a small Japanese saucer with some lotion and used a clear plate for laying it out to smooth between times of rolling it up and squashing the paper.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrYb6LE1UlaGf6g8QB4TVMmTDH0zDQcVYDhWyjffvIZqv51WVASXn2h5dUw9Sf7L3UeMMxO3Jw6-xnC3wI35UJnADHEcDDpMVizoMY_Rjv7uumXpeGEjGaWvHgvAIKKPvBr99NyHpyxKD1UmNAprOPHNq4clgxuJWXi76qML9as3ds1onRGY7V7kn7/s4032/IMG_8085.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrYb6LE1UlaGf6g8QB4TVMmTDH0zDQcVYDhWyjffvIZqv51WVASXn2h5dUw9Sf7L3UeMMxO3Jw6-xnC3wI35UJnADHEcDDpMVizoMY_Rjv7uumXpeGEjGaWvHgvAIKKPvBr99NyHpyxKD1UmNAprOPHNq4clgxuJWXi76qML9as3ds1onRGY7V7kn7/s320/IMG_8085.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br /><p>Next photo is the piece of paper I tore off a piece to compare before and after.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjveGO1iTPSgrx2TYHdHog1Av1MGvmGsOyt1FwHWdsrFzQDofhFasmTE6nSODVvmF1HFkJWNsk18uFFA7K_wLxgfaPzo-SxD5s-PbIgMZd5nschehAcyjsIsj7MxCTgbinKBHRAtSYa82SF0GQyGt2pC20e1wSM-metKcPOwPm1Rm6HgAKtDzCe8Ore/s4030/IMG_E8086.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3022" data-original-width="4030" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjveGO1iTPSgrx2TYHdHog1Av1MGvmGsOyt1FwHWdsrFzQDofhFasmTE6nSODVvmF1HFkJWNsk18uFFA7K_wLxgfaPzo-SxD5s-PbIgMZd5nschehAcyjsIsj7MxCTgbinKBHRAtSYa82SF0GQyGt2pC20e1wSM-metKcPOwPm1Rm6HgAKtDzCe8Ore/s320/IMG_E8086.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>The next photo shows some denim I am stitching with perle cotton and will be used for a journal cover. Here is how I did it:</p><p> I started the mug rug by doing a zig zag stitch on my machine on the outside edge. Lay the backing right side down, then the batting then the top fabrics. I used a jelly roll. The way I did it was to hang the first strip off the edge and fold the edge of the backing over the batting and the jelly roll raw edge on top. Start zig zagging and each new piece of jelly roll I folded the edge under. When I got back to the beginning I folded under the first piece and stitched back to the corner. It is a very fun and fast way to get a Kawandi style quilt started. The rest is all hand stitching around and around. I really really enjoy this type of hand stitching...........perfectly imperfect! </p><p>This last week I have been going through scraps of fabric and sorting in piles according to size. I stitched various scrap sizes on a muslin base starting with a 5-sided center piece. The following photos are the first before trimming and the second trimmed to 9".</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7SBCVJSDeJZ9uiMtjwd94PhiA9HxRdBS2-GoVjHhi63HOhUZMjsNrFjRlUyAKlPrW8QE9vpAe6LC4ncSeGq69c_BAwECJTFXm-1icKODV4Lv1kTsaM4vhqDRWLymHu0QITEbozyhPvVpAr3dIwOtk5M0pJasLo9t2niBhSDe2JJch70Jl5Pu9FIII/s3484/IMG_E8036.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3023" data-original-width="3484" height="278" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7SBCVJSDeJZ9uiMtjwd94PhiA9HxRdBS2-GoVjHhi63HOhUZMjsNrFjRlUyAKlPrW8QE9vpAe6LC4ncSeGq69c_BAwECJTFXm-1icKODV4Lv1kTsaM4vhqDRWLymHu0QITEbozyhPvVpAr3dIwOtk5M0pJasLo9t2niBhSDe2JJch70Jl5Pu9FIII/s320/IMG_E8036.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2b0XuU4oijKmttZERaKQ6NzAcsZSYNHYDYRjcdLnvjlvPBqn2CCv0p2RANX02Wj3nxXuTryz2XlePUBwjDRU4EkbZBW4BFYld2gmyLwFlGLUfBk_OHAP4CVJcjNiQGRthRE2w8dPBZATL3nrCqB-D7PQv68lUjc8jDBQw0iHH_csKwrmg4wZeBkOz/s3365/IMG_E8037.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3023" data-original-width="3365" height="287" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2b0XuU4oijKmttZERaKQ6NzAcsZSYNHYDYRjcdLnvjlvPBqn2CCv0p2RANX02Wj3nxXuTryz2XlePUBwjDRU4EkbZBW4BFYld2gmyLwFlGLUfBk_OHAP4CVJcjNiQGRthRE2w8dPBZATL3nrCqB-D7PQv68lUjc8jDBQw0iHH_csKwrmg4wZeBkOz/s320/IMG_E8037.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>I am linking to Kathy's Quilts Slow Sunday Stitching<div><a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2023/01/slow-sunday-stitching_02094618467.html">https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2023/01/slow-sunday-stitching_02094618467.html</a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Smiles and hugs....Caryl</div><div><br /></div>Caryl @ cinnamon holiday workshophttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10584589130042712446noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4069619363710727597.post-59729062307258681512023-01-01T21:28:00.000-08:002023-01-01T21:28:31.514-08:00Happy New Year 2023<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiY09kzuog1rfp1ySnpeFF-8AaC_L5d6xr9WFdJoxSkbBpUopf23bi-Oy-FNysFlVGOrgvQ8gS9PorSWN2UP10rPmlzjQj8RXgXWdxwdSSZUvidXalfOOkWX_E13TcXCa-iprEHPEH_HPb2-dehfQ5TAK_jS38JNz1aW8w9QFslN2N6C-cohP0D_AxW" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="373" data-original-width="563" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiY09kzuog1rfp1ySnpeFF-8AaC_L5d6xr9WFdJoxSkbBpUopf23bi-Oy-FNysFlVGOrgvQ8gS9PorSWN2UP10rPmlzjQj8RXgXWdxwdSSZUvidXalfOOkWX_E13TcXCa-iprEHPEH_HPb2-dehfQ5TAK_jS38JNz1aW8w9QFslN2N6C-cohP0D_AxW" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>I don't know what happened to last year....it went by way too fast!</p><p>This year I am going to plan more......do more....finish more. </p><p>Smiles and hugs....Caryl</p>Caryl @ cinnamon holiday workshophttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10584589130042712446noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4069619363710727597.post-6444938926621789542022-11-27T16:31:00.000-08:002022-11-27T16:31:44.333-08:00Kawandi #5 finish and ready to start another one<p> <span style="font-family: courier;">It has been a long time since I</span><span style="font-family: courier;"> wrote a blog post! </span></p><p><span style="font-family: courier;">I will link this with Slow Sunday Stitching.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: courier;">Today I finished #5 Kawandi and it is placemat size.</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJ4C13bncopcVNo54qT3qTgs7VCPJC7F85nNluXTRs9X10rxKHb43KKMoAQg5gMikRCvOcLW9OhsBqnC9iTn3oWAn3CwXSVniYseVo_3OM6g-kSeD7qacMJdVbyvbZwnTwARFXJQUx9PCvDqrXagKatGI_-BMWOgc4j2jIru6gWfsHCsL8ijvruIND/s2689/IMG_7902.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="2689" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJ4C13bncopcVNo54qT3qTgs7VCPJC7F85nNluXTRs9X10rxKHb43KKMoAQg5gMikRCvOcLW9OhsBqnC9iTn3oWAn3CwXSVniYseVo_3OM6g-kSeD7qacMJdVbyvbZwnTwARFXJQUx9PCvDqrXagKatGI_-BMWOgc4j2jIru6gWfsHCsL8ijvruIND/s320/IMG_7902.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: courier;">THis is only the center part of the photo and it changed to this close mode! I have blogged about it with photos before and I didn't get a photo when I finished. I do have a photo that was taken at a friend's house on her design wall when it was almost done.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj7q1D4rY3ZzERQYvGOEdCFecf7rnXFjMcDZSwqZ9FhY2q7BQ-mAWMxurFK7vjPw_11jCIN6afW-EQLv_IpP2iutiZdqPmnpz-dE9EonHZSzSfG3RFqoKtACqNigO0i0isB7xxNx5sJGqpA7cvTTM1_9D8CbW8yFiNYZdHCOEHDVzIdLdooOgQdS5NZ=s2778" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2778" data-original-width="1284" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj7q1D4rY3ZzERQYvGOEdCFecf7rnXFjMcDZSwqZ9FhY2q7BQ-mAWMxurFK7vjPw_11jCIN6afW-EQLv_IpP2iutiZdqPmnpz-dE9EonHZSzSfG3RFqoKtACqNigO0i0isB7xxNx5sJGqpA7cvTTM1_9D8CbW8yFiNYZdHCOEHDVzIdLdooOgQdS5NZ=s320" width="148" /></a></div><br /><p>And I have started another Kawandi and it is smaller. The days we have plans are the days I accomplish more! I have a lot of creative things I like to do and a lot of supplies. To organize....I have been entering my supplies and where they are in a WORD document. AND also listing my ongling projects I want to complete....my UFQs,,,,,,unfinished quilts. Last year I started watching videos on paper crafting and want to do more with journals. I have a lot of online classes and want to do more painting and lettering.........the list goes on and on!!!</p><p>NOW.....TODAY.... I started a 30 day challenge. 30 days create before my birthday. (#30dayscreateb482) I posted day 1 in my FB group creative happenings workshop.</p><p>The photo from today....making stickers with 6" adhesive roll. I put the back of a magazine image on the sticky side and punch out a shape. The 2" punch doesn't punch all around the circle and I have to use a scissors to finish the cut. But a 1" punch works just fine. I plan to make a bunch of stickers and have them ready to peel off the brown back and put in my journals.</p><p><br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHAAkz3qk1c5gsq1Y5RtOiODGX9aDWNjbnOVS2Bp2axg6niK1Rgz00cVtZrAhJ_m6CH99i8L_mnD_oyLYiQmEwY4-5sP4MlhWKqQyFPCC9KSbNKaXOpKjIWaoBm4zy3k2jj0HTh36wy_s/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="526" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHAAkz3qk1c5gsq1Y5RtOiODGX9aDWNjbnOVS2Bp2axg6niK1Rgz00cVtZrAhJ_m6CH99i8L_mnD_oyLYiQmEwY4-5sP4MlhWKqQyFPCC9KSbNKaXOpKjIWaoBm4zy3k2jj0HTh36wy_s/" width="252" /></a></div><br />Doing a challenge and posting about it is a great motivator to get going and make some stuff!!!<p></p><p>Anyone want to join in or want to join my FB group....it is private...so answer the questions and I will add you to our group. </p><p>AND here is my creative journal page for January 1st that I posted to the Decorative Journaling FB group.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxWTaPsS0ae3OhuqOxjr8oBpo1qxVdbc8fzTLy4GEJnP8BIMu66QDrBO-2BS8PDP8DF9SL7_Me_Wzv2b9kkJU-6iSV7m7PJV9_2xOpMJjsyCqa7j8mjN_mH2Z-WW0H8KhSBxsdTL1zEV8/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="701" data-original-width="526" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxWTaPsS0ae3OhuqOxjr8oBpo1qxVdbc8fzTLy4GEJnP8BIMu66QDrBO-2BS8PDP8DF9SL7_Me_Wzv2b9kkJU-6iSV7m7PJV9_2xOpMJjsyCqa7j8mjN_mH2Z-WW0H8KhSBxsdTL1zEV8/" width="180" /></a></div><br /><br /><p></p><p>Smiles and hugs....Caryl</p>Caryl @ cinnamon holiday workshophttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10584589130042712446noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4069619363710727597.post-85001625521675182102021-12-24T20:22:00.000-08:002021-12-24T20:22:32.865-08:00Twas the night before Christmas<p> and all through the house............</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgMkPBiCvIrOvRvznUxlWxf_DreqvqfeGsClDs1LfTCZsGfvIGEhQuPUi6mRmgIXH8RADvbSkC9J9KW8xRgZFz5LqK9qLplMLiiWsrLnnmLHrS59hn4fajzt6RD_W5_K4Gtno5Kj-gV8EsLSkf7v3dtSKaHN-4j0Bi0sbvEuO60fVdE_tga2yFxQY_I=s4031" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4031" data-original-width="3023" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgMkPBiCvIrOvRvznUxlWxf_DreqvqfeGsClDs1LfTCZsGfvIGEhQuPUi6mRmgIXH8RADvbSkC9J9KW8xRgZFz5LqK9qLplMLiiWsrLnnmLHrS59hn4fajzt6RD_W5_K4Gtno5Kj-gV8EsLSkf7v3dtSKaHN-4j0Bi0sbvEuO60fVdE_tga2yFxQY_I=s320" width="240" /></a></div>Here is a page I did today in my creative journal. <p></p><p>I did some cooking today for tonight and also for tomorrow morning breakfast.</p><p>Every year I make cinnamon rolls at this time of year and use a treasured recipe from a dear friend.</p><p>It is a recipe from the 60s and is called Ice Box Rolls. I am getting to the end of stitching on my kawandi like runner. It is very enjoyable....I have no pressure on myself to complete it (although it is almost finished). I have done 69 weeks of posting goals....and before that I used to try to finish by Friday for the linky party. It was a great motivator for me for a lot of years.....but now I want to do something different. </span></span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 22px;">Note for those who read my last post.....Yesterday I did an update on my last blog post and added a photo of the two fabrics I used for the crazy mini quilt. I am sure most everyone was wondering how did I come up with that quilt!!. </span></p><p><span style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 22px;">I really enjoyed posting on IG every day in August for the challenge</span></span><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 22px;"> by </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 22px;">Joanne Sharpe in her online class to make some kind of creative play artwork every day. Two of them were doodle painting and using pens....one using twinkling H2Os. The other project was using the sheet of faux oil cloth and cut it into different size pieces and sew then on painted papers. These were ideas from Joanne Sharpe classes over the past few years. Here is the photo from yesterday. My IG is carylquilts if you want to see all 31 days of projects.</span></p><p><span style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrbvorAr0PO-gAdbCwyFmG0Jwhm4eL-n80b699-YY2WrL26Qix0JVMNh_aNTMbq_pN_fYWoDQ_Iu6koV6uP6JuBm8PbETIKszAhWOHdUgMAtRGUBWM5pHfqiAcsxmCH_nA-esJswd3e5s/s4028/IMG_E6795.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4028" data-original-width="2633" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrbvorAr0PO-gAdbCwyFmG0Jwhm4eL-n80b699-YY2WrL26Qix0JVMNh_aNTMbq_pN_fYWoDQ_Iu6koV6uP6JuBm8PbETIKszAhWOHdUgMAtRGUBWM5pHfqiAcsxmCH_nA-esJswd3e5s/s320/IMG_E6795.JPG" width="209" /></a></span></div><span style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"><br /><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 22px;">Smiles and hugs....Caryl</span></span><p></p>Caryl @ cinnamon holiday workshophttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10584589130042712446noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4069619363710727597.post-16577815925430214802021-08-24T20:11:00.001-07:002021-08-31T19:52:02.973-07:00Crazy mini quilt and To-Do Tuesday #69<p> </p><div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-size: 22px;">Goals from this past week </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><ul style="line-height: 1.4; margin: 0.5em 0px; padding: 0px 2.5em;"><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 17.5692px;">something creative every day to post to IG and also to my FB creative happenings workshop group</span>✅</li><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 17.5692px;">make a fall mini quilt to hang on my vintage wall shelf</span>✅</li></ul><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div></div></div><div class="post-body entry-content" id="post-body-5710402077820948506" itemprop="description articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; line-height: 1.4; position: relative; width: 570px;"><p style="font-size: 13.2px;"><span style="font-size: 22px;">I have posted every day following the challenge by </span><span style="font-size: 22px;">Joanne Sharpe online class to make some kind of creative play artwork every day. The pattern is by Joe Cunningham on Craftsy. I decided to make the strips smaller so the blocks would be smaller and only make 6 blocks. I saw two fabrics in my stash I had received from a quild prize many years ago....yep...that is what I want to try. AND whoa.....it turned out really crazy!!! But I love it!!</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 22px;">Here is the finished mini quilt and the back. It is reversible so I can change it this fall. I followed the method of stitches by julie. You lay the fabric beyond the Peltex ½" and use parchment paper to press the fabric onto the Peltex with an iron.. I used some of the charm pieces from June Sew Sampler. The fabric is The Seamstress by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts. Also some Tula Pink and Tim Holtz and purple ribbon and coffee dyed lace. The saying was stamped on coffee dyed muslin. </span></div><div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: 22px; text-align: left;">The lining is cut the same size as the top fabric and right sides together stitch close to the Peltex with a zipper foot. I left a 6" opening and trimmed the corners and turned it to the right side. Then I trimmed to 1/4 " all around except at the opening. It is easy to press the opening closed to the Peltex and press the back flat. Then topstitch close to the edge. I used my BSR2 set on the zigzag and FMQ on the top next to the raw edges. I didn't have any ideas and just picked up the brush and paints and started. The first one I was going for a whimsical bird and added stamps and doodles. For the next one I used some of my favorite colors of paint and then did some doodling with a quote. The third one is a page from our class last year and I added some more circles and doodles to the page. Joanne encouraged us to just do something....anything. Sometimes I am reluctant to post the things I am doing and I am sure that is the case with a lot of people. </span></p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj07533R3ULBZY2hVDSnLJDwYqlrd1IoKlbI3R0U3x_PAc5YBRarimO8kM7Lv61eDQmtoNXjZB7PwPUARSpRJZ90GhsmVESbqofZ6tru_xllngD2IqAI48RF02ImV3fQmFpBxkbNDwcHxs/s4032/IMG_6701.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj07533R3ULBZY2hVDSnLJDwYqlrd1IoKlbI3R0U3x_PAc5YBRarimO8kM7Lv61eDQmtoNXjZB7PwPUARSpRJZ90GhsmVESbqofZ6tru_xllngD2IqAI48RF02ImV3fQmFpBxkbNDwcHxs/s320/IMG_6701.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBTUSmuLFiRpQGLCXy03BvpwKau9Rd-koUo5XbXOap623ICD20F6hcilSRvF42Pxzvhdpm2AJkhg2I0FnYfBPs6BD3IfTeOMOYD9mHBuCzf9OmW1ssp-NBSfeRsfyaabk1G3QtuMzXMQ8/s2048/IMG_6702.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBTUSmuLFiRpQGLCXy03BvpwKau9Rd-koUo5XbXOap623ICD20F6hcilSRvF42Pxzvhdpm2AJkhg2I0FnYfBPs6BD3IfTeOMOYD9mHBuCzf9OmW1ssp-NBSfeRsfyaabk1G3QtuMzXMQ8/s320/IMG_6702.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaneEGiDL9jqKg-CWPmjRkjuV9sGN4qw79EFjIn16ZKyNEaCZ11tCDS0bKGTdfVVpkO7fMWjVrcHsPe2P9Z4Gt7G3QYwvwYgkEkDFhsxWcjPR4QtBvQQmfa0G_yNu3TNjDArORJDEHFEo/s2048/IMG_6707.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaneEGiDL9jqKg-CWPmjRkjuV9sGN4qw79EFjIn16ZKyNEaCZ11tCDS0bKGTdfVVpkO7fMWjVrcHsPe2P9Z4Gt7G3QYwvwYgkEkDFhsxWcjPR4QtBvQQmfa0G_yNu3TNjDArORJDEHFEo/s320/IMG_6707.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: 22px;"><br /></span><p></p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"><span style="font-size: 22px;"> I will be linking this week to Melva Loves Scraps</span></p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"><span style="font-size: 22px;"><a href="https://melvalovesscraps.blogspot.com/2021/08/tuesday-to-do-linky-party.html?m=1">https://melvalovesscraps.blogspot.com/2021/08/tuesday-to-do-linky-party.html?m=1</a><br /></span></p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"><br /></p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"><span style="font-size: 22px;">My goals for this week are to continue with creative something every day and post on IG. I have multiple places in our house where I do different projects. I am also going through craft supplies and making decisions about those supplies that I will not be using anymore. This has been an ongoing project over the past several years. There are some things I have kept saving and saving....Now I just want to do the crafting that I REALLY like and not the ones that I might get to sometime!!</span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 22px;">The first photo has many different stories going on....</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVfgi9HDaR9KUzHDY444NEQ-ey-OWQUQlIKtb5pTi5SkRjk2XEIvb-DOO0JEon2eBLj3envuDjJlCtXIF3FnY9bq1rvS0MsgfX0G5EYHSdHZQvUNFp3V74T8D_Us_Fo3aECWmz4pnVAl4/s2965/IMG_E6676.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2953" data-original-width="2965" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVfgi9HDaR9KUzHDY444NEQ-ey-OWQUQlIKtb5pTi5SkRjk2XEIvb-DOO0JEon2eBLj3envuDjJlCtXIF3FnY9bq1rvS0MsgfX0G5EYHSdHZQvUNFp3V74T8D_Us_Fo3aECWmz4pnVAl4/s320/IMG_E6676.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 22px;">I put all of my peg stamps together in one box. I had each group separate in their original box and I didn't get them out and use them very much. Now I have written on each stamp the group where they belong. The tag in the photo is one I found in the box already stamped around the edge and I added color to the center and put a flower sticker on it and a ribbon tie. Another tag for my journals! </span><p></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 22px;">The little plastic piece in the upper right is a piece I use to make random marks on some paper tags and journal pages with distress oxide ink. The little wood slice is one I made when we lived in Julian. I engraved and painted and sold a variety of these little wood slices in shops in Julian. I have various sizes that Dave cut when we lived in the mountains. I have a bunch left over from then....so I might glue some of my stamps to some of them.</span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 22px;">The next photo shows a little box where I store some basic supplies that I can move easily and have available wherever I am doing projects in the house. Blending brushes, different glues, scissors and rotary cutters I use for paper.</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFE3HLs_p0zMEqlSAQMqDxbX2XWlT8LFrUSZEST2FLEGdl1KLDCv3uISSqvdtRrVPXp95aM8TrybZHSZknIIhTpGyU9f1xckw4PNx56l3d3kpkoPaJsBY904rckDH8MlITzWhmQZuKXy8/s4032/IMG_6677.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFE3HLs_p0zMEqlSAQMqDxbX2XWlT8LFrUSZEST2FLEGdl1KLDCv3uISSqvdtRrVPXp95aM8TrybZHSZknIIhTpGyU9f1xckw4PNx56l3d3kpkoPaJsBY904rckDH8MlITzWhmQZuKXy8/s320/IMG_6677.JPG" /></a></div><br /><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 22px;">Next is a photo of some of the paper crafts I have been doing.</span><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhcVx9UJIAp0T0HFnHmasewHS9Crilw0kA3TgzEnX96p0aal5H_eRNiBfkpDWGkkYpKQEw-Ohq-i6gNFJUAchhGENQPJ0dbT10DUdMgAoBWdRw_T7y8M6OQ4zCeVfuHivff_Cy5UMcInQ/s3879/IMG_E6674.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3023" data-original-width="3879" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhcVx9UJIAp0T0HFnHmasewHS9Crilw0kA3TgzEnX96p0aal5H_eRNiBfkpDWGkkYpKQEw-Ohq-i6gNFJUAchhGENQPJ0dbT10DUdMgAoBWdRw_T7y8M6OQ4zCeVfuHivff_Cy5UMcInQ/s320/IMG_E6674.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 22px;">I stamped and drew on some book pages and painted the images and cut them out to add to journals or tags. And also reorganizing and getting rid of stuff!! </span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 22px;">SOOOO Happy for Our family to get together in person and I am back meeting with my quilt group every week!! Since February 2020 has been a LONG time!! BUT I AM SO glad we had Zoom for the past year to keep up with everyone!!</span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 22px;">I will put my goals for the week at the end of this post. This is Tuesday to do #61 and I am linking to <a href="https://chrisknits.wordpress.com/2021/06/21/to-do-tuesday-8/">Chris Knits</a> </span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 22px;">I am enjoying getting inspiration from online paper project ideas. </span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 22px;">Using a plastic padded envelope I wrapped it in fabric and made a journal cover. I used some tea and coffee dyed papers inside. The fourth photo shows a pocket with a little notebook. I am enjoying making pockets, and journal tags and little notebooks to add to my journal pages. </span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBtJIJAwXSBwFBHHBS82kIyUNrMnAopmqKnZHAZcSpH1nSV5hE6wleO_N_RhTDdMtB6OjEXEFC4mTe0HclJvfquk2qHVhG0AgaeQuz4kXtsUkpH6V2QOYwwgSLHRXTnWU8eOSj0xbKkuU/s3931/IMG_E6559.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; It is about 8 x 12 and will be able to be used on our counter instead of putting two smaller potholders together to hold hot pans.</h3></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNVdzF0_aXIlYx9Mq8JxZZta5PgJF-z8-Y3kLNhgPT31AzkKOd8mNEzzIKmBNjbEiptVTQK8NpSfL_74TqS9eXlWLEvgtDbGXUYGkk2XKasEnY-MY2E2TI20Y57mNN7G5qV6h0ofzfn8k/s3538/IMG_E6484.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3538" data-original-width="3023" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNVdzF0_aXIlYx9Mq8JxZZta5PgJF-z8-Y3kLNhgPT31AzkKOd8mNEzzIKmBNjbEiptVTQK8NpSfL_74TqS9eXlWLEvgtDbGXUYGkk2XKasEnY-MY2E2TI20Y57mNN7G5qV6h0ofzfn8k/s320/IMG_E6484.JPG" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><h3 class="post-title entry-title" itemprop="name" style="font-size: 22px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0.75em 0px 0px; position: relative;">AND here is a photo on our patio</h3></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5y3jK_Wdli3dLHdhh_IsnXCgWk_U8-aJY6QjJuleVKjq1Ehyphenhyphen8noI5LCgeMwN07sWsj8X6FwN-wdovov15y0eFbEpoNU40kc703gUy7qW6ivsfFkLe6ME6tttzJOVTcgCwvczvr29PIJg/s4032/IMG_6503.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5y3jK_Wdli3dLHdhh_IsnXCgWk_U8-aJY6QjJuleVKjq1Ehyphenhyphen8noI5LCgeMwN07sWsj8X6FwN-wdovov15y0eFbEpoNU40kc703gUy7qW6ivsfFkLe6ME6tttzJOVTcgCwvczvr29PIJg/s320/IMG_6503.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><h3 class="post-title entry-title" itemprop="name" style="font-size: 22px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0.75em 0px 0px; position: relative;"> and I am looking forward to having family and friends to come and visit again. I use the fuscia metal ruler for tearing the paper. On the right are some little books with stitching down the middle to hold it together. I am using tea dyed papers in some of them. Some of the tags are punched with the tag punch and it has a place to add the hole at the top and also an eyelet setter. One of the tags I covered with floral fabric. In the top right is a little book I made several weeks ago with an old manila folder that I embossed with stars and swirls and then added a piece of fabric with stars and swirls and glued it over the edge. (I kept telling myself the reason I have so many projects all over is so I won't forget them...ha ha...it was not a good plan!)<br /></span><p></p><div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"><b style="font-size: 17.5692px;">Tuesday To Do week of May 4 through May 10::</b></p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"></p><ol style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 17.5692px;">finish a mini quilt I started this week </span></li><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 17.5692px;">sewing with paper crafting</span></li><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 17.5692px;">kawandi runner</span></li></ol><div><span face="Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif" style="color: #222222;"><span style="font-size: 17.5692px;">I am linking to <a href="https://chrisknits.wordpress.com/2021/05/04/tuesday-to-do-103/">Chris Knits</a></span></span></div><div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"><span style="font-size: 17.5692px;"><br /></span></div><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"></p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"><span style="font-size: 17.5692px;">check for the projects for this week and see what everyone is doing!!</span></p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"><span style="font-size: 17.5692px;">Smiles and hugs....Caryl</span></p></div>Caryl @ cinnamon holiday workshophttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10584589130042712446noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4069619363710727597.post-44790126818927233732021-04-21T18:00:00.000-07:002021-04-21T18:00:00.238-07:00Tuesday To Do #57<p> <span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 17.5692px;">This is Tiuesday To Do #57 I will be linking with <a href="https://chrisknits.wordpress.com/2021/04/19/tuesday-to-do-101/">Chris Knits</a></span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 17.5692px;">Here is my progress from last week:</span></p><div><b style="font-size: 17.5692px;">Tuesday To Do week of April 13 through April 19</b><b style="font-size: 17.5692px;">:</b></div><div><ol><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 17.5692px;">FMQ three days and include Angela's new challenge designs</span> <b style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 17.5692px;"> ✅</b></li><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;">Get back to hand stitching the kawandi runner at least 5 days <b style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 17.5692px;"> ✅</b></li><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;">work on a sewing project <b style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 17.5692px;"> ✅</b></li></ol><div><span style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 17.5692px;">I enjoyed practicing FMQ on paper and practice pieces...no photos.
