Jenny Griffiths is an awesome teacher....
three of these cards were with watercolor paper...

weekend progress

the FIU on Pat Sloan's Mashup was a lot of fun...
I made progress on all of my 4 projects....
got the borders on the bars of gold....
long borders give me fits...
so glad to be past that!!!...
I need batting and backing fabric for this now..
so this quilt will be on hold for awhile...

I have the 9 patch quilt in piles of various stages...
sashing to be cut, to be sewn and to be pressed...
I did do some more strips on the calendar quilt...
and the D4P tablerunner I will finish the binding at my Tuesday night quilt group...
then I will put the tutorial for that here later in the week...

weekend FIU projects

Pat Sloan is having a FIU challenge this weekend...
bars of gold two borders to add....
binding on D4P tablerunner....
70 9 patches done in a 2009 quilt along with crazy mom quilts...
calendar quilt strips to sew...
will make some progress on these projects....

Ohhh...and dessert we had on the 4th...yummmmm...

last week was another cardmaking class...

D9P tutorial

there are many D9P tutorials on the web...
here is my version of one that I did two years ago...
I call it my right twist method....

I used a charm pack...
matched the same design of different colors...

I used a solid color for the centers of each 9 patch...

here are three 9 patches laying side by side...

then each one is cut down the center vertically and then horizontally..
each of the 9 patches now have 4 blocks...
I right twist each block one turn...

then following the photo sew all together for a tablerunner...
I quilted it with loops, hearts, stars, name and date, etc....
I brought the back to the front for self binding...
then I used different decorative stitches to finish the binding!!

next part of D4P tutorial

In the previous post I started the D4P tutorial...
the 4 charm squares were sewn together into a 4 patch...
then with 4 cuts it became a 9 patch (9 pieces)...
I used 3 different fabrics instead of 2 fabrics...
(google for disappearing 4 patch tutorial)

next is my method of finishing...
leave the 4 outside squares as they are...
move the center outside sections as follows:
left to the right and the right to the left
top to the bottom and the bottom to the top
then turn the center square 180 degrees...

sew the sections together...

I like how this turned out...

looking through my notebook of ideas from blogs...
the disappearing 4 patch was one I wanted to try...
there are soooo many ideas and I forgot about this one from March...
start with 4 charm squares and sew them together...

then cut 1" away from center seams...

soft wrap goodness

a quick and delicious meal....
this soft wrap is 1 point....

spread a small amount of bean dip on the tortilla...
add shredded cheese and maybe thin sliced turkey or ham or ?....
microwave..then add cooked vegetables..then roll up.....yummmm....
