Here is the finished quilt.... I started with the fabric first and then started making blocks... I was going to use some pink and white striped fabrics... but they did not look good with the zebra stripes....
I have quilted a lot of words into this quilt....
a few of the words included are adorable....sweet...angelic...
precious....her name and date of birth....plus others...
I have already had a lot of blog posts about this quilt.... AND there is a photo of the center of the quilt here............................................ Smiles and hugs....Caryl

progress with projects

I started this project last year with Sarah and her FYB Makealong.... I put it away and have done other things.... Last week I finished the red stitching with my Tuesday night group... I had some leftover KiwiBerry Bali strips from another quilt... No measuring...I just put them on the borders... then I did some machine quilting.... I want to put something in the middle???... like buttons...can't remember what I thought of last year.... Also not sure how to quilt around the words??... any suggestions would be welcomed...
This is the baby quilt ready to quilt... not sure how I am quilting it yet... I know it will have words sewn in.... precious and other sweet words.... Smiles and hugs....Caryl

borders zebra and pink

some of you may have seen this photo I put on flickr two days ago...
yesterday checking out borders....
so the plan is about an inch of the zebra print for the first border... then about 3 inch pink for the outer border.... that will make it about 36 inches square.... yup...that is what I will do.... I never did use that pink and white stripe....may use it for the binding.... and then again it might not work.... Smiles and hugs....Caryl

more blocks zebra and pink

I wanted some variety in the blocks for the baby quilt....
I also changed the size of the blocks... I cut them down smaller.... and added some different pinks....
I finished the blocks today and sewed all the blocks together tonight.... I still need to add borders... will probably have a narrow zebra print first... then pink outer border in one of the pink fabrics... this is soooo much fun.... Smiles and hugs....Caryl

zebra and pink

Some of the blocks look like this..... will have more photos later today.... yesterday I looked for pink dots or similar... couldn't find all the fabric I wanted... the striped fabric in the previous post just doesn't look good with the zebra stripes!! so leaving it out for now... maybe use it for the binding??.... fabrics for zebra and pink baby quilt

Yesterday I bought some zebra fabric in two different sizes... some pink stripes... also a zebra print for the back....
today I went through my stash and found some black with frosted dots... some pinks.....one is too light and the other is too dark... a small piece of white with pink dots.... I still would like to find a different pink... the quilt will be a simple design....either all squares... or rectangles with strips around... I would also like to find a different back in flannel... maybe in pink or pink with dots... I have been getting lots of help from my friends in the quilting world in places to look for fabrics... this is so much fun!!! Smiles and hugs....Caryl

peachy pink quilt for baby Georgia

I have blogged about this quilt before...

I started with deciding the size to fussy cut Beatrix Potter images...
I varied the type of blocks...

since the baby was born as I was making this...
I asked the mother to write down words that described her daughter...
I quilted these words into this quilt for Georgia...

some blocks have 3 1/2" fussy cut with borders...

some were 6 1/2" fussy cut...

I made blocks with strips...
and 4 patch blocks...
and log cabin blocks...

I added her name and birth date into the quilting...
a really fun quilt to make...
I sure hope she likes it..

designing the baby quilt

back to working on the baby quilt...
decided to add some pink to the soft peachy pink blocks....
also added 8 1/2" blocks mixed with the 6 1/2" blocks...

then I needed to add some 4 1/2" x 8 1/2" blocks...
so I have 2 blocks together make 8 1/2" x 13" blocks...
and 2 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" blocks for 6 1/2" x 13" blocks ...
it seems like this is a good layout...
wondering if this looks okay??...
I kind of like the added pink to the layout...

feeling the love

today I am working on a baby quilt...
a precious beautiful little girl was born last week...
and I work with her mom....
I am using 5 different block designs...
some are fussy cut from Beatrix Potter fabric...

most of these fabrics are such a soft peachy pink...

the last photo shows the fabrics I am using for a log cabin block...
there are other projects I am also working on and I will show then another time!!
