Here is the friendship bag I finished today. It is part of an ugly fabric challenge...but I don't think the fabric is ugly! I used the "ugly" fabric in the strips, the bottom and the lining.
I used the tutorial from psiquilt. This photo shows when it was ready to quilt. I used Bosal to make the bag stiffer than batting.
Right sides clipped together to sew the lining and the bag.
I took the plastic insert out of my sewing table to make joining the two pieces sooooo much easier. I have made bags before and have never thought of taking out that plastic piece. I am mentioning this because there might be others who haven't thought of it.
In this photo I used a flash to get a brighter photo.
This photo is the hourglass with 2 borders in the Gypsy Wife quilt I am making. I joined the 2019 Gypsy Wife quiltalong. It just started this last Saturday.
This is a simple block to make.....we have great tutorials in this group to help everyone.
I had to take a photo of the back...."spin" the seam to make the seams lay down so nice.
The last photo I call scrappy strips around the cabin blocks. I am using up scraps to do log cabin style piecing and the blocks will be different sizes.

Some finishes...friendship bag plus
I made some coasters with some scraps of fabric and gave one to my neighbor for her birthday. I have more in the process. I quilt the backing separate from the front and then join them right sides together and turn and topstitch.
I get such great inspiration from Joanne Sharpe and I made these accordian art projects from an idea she had on Whimspirations.
I even made one for my Weight Watcher reminders. These are made from watercolor paper and painted with watercolor paints and then markers to finish!
I am adding this to crazy mom quilts finish it up Friday.......................
And to Linky Tuesday. Freemotion by the River.............

friendship bag for my markers and pens
I made a friendship bag using the tutorial from Rachel at psiquilt.......
I made it to hold some of my markers and pens that I need when I am working at the kitchen table or other spots in the house doing coloring books...or my lettering journal...or creative journals...or cardmaking...etc.....
This is the second friendship bag I have made....the first one I made in November 2014....
I used First Crush fabric for this one....
oops.....I did not notice until I took the photo...the writing is upside down!!
I didn't think it through when I placed the strips to the center piece.........
Here is the piece ready to be quilted....
I did line quilting on this one with my walking foot.......
I used Bosal for the batting....it is sturdy and the bag stands up good....
This was really fun to make and the directions are very good.........

friendship bag finished
Here is my cute little friendship bag....made it with no handles...
The tutorial is at psiquilt....very easy to make.
I think everyone should make at least one of these!
Here is a photo after I quilted it and before cutting off the batting...
I quilted loops and heart leaves.....my favorites when I haven't done FMQ for awhile!
In between other projects I am sewing up these little 16 patches....
I am using 1½" strips cut about 5" and sew 4 together....
then cross cut into 1½" strips....
then I sew them into 16 patches.
I got the idea for this method from red pepper quilts postage stamp tutorial.
Now I have some other tote bags I have started and I need to finish them.
